Klowra Everlast Delay Review – The Simplest Multi delay you haven’t heard of!

Introduction

You may not know this, but my favourite effect is delay! I find it to be so inspiring and lovely to play with! It’s a bit strange, I feel “at home” or “safe” with delay! So when I got the chance to review the Klowra Everlast delay pedal, I jumped at the chance! This is a digital delay pedal that contains huge tones, various settings, and I would argue could challenge Strymon pedals, especially when you hear the price!

So as always, I will take you through the pedal, talk about what the Klowra Everlast is and the controls, and then I will show you some of the sounds and tones you can expect to get out of it. Finally, I will talk about my thoughts and opinions on the pedal! Brace yourself because I will 100% need out on this pedal with all its features!

Klowra Everlast Delay

Klowra isn’t a brand I have heard of before, but when they reached out and asked if I wanted to check out the Klowra Everlast delay pedal, I was super keen! The Klowra Everlast is a stereo digital delay that contains nine different types of delay sounds! From analogue all the way to crazy and wonderful reverse and swell sounds.

Aimed to give you ultimate controls and versatility while keeping the footprint and manual fairly small, the Klowra Everlast is the delay that could rival some big names! Speaking of controls, why don’t I go through the controls and knobs and see what they do?

Such a cool and nice design! You can tell some thought has been put into the design and layout of this pedal!

Aimed to give you ultimate controls and versatility while keeping the footprint and manual fairly small, the Klowra Everlast is the delay that could rival some big names! Speaking of controls, why don’t I go through the controls and knobs and see what they do?

  • Time: Controls how long the delay lasts.
  • Repeat: This controls how many repeats you will hear
  • Mix: Blends the dry and delayed signal. Allowing more delay signal to be heard.
  • Delay Select: Allows you to select what type of delay you want.
  • Texture: Adjust the texture of the delay reflections
  • Tone: Adjust the EQ of the repeats.
  • LED Button: Lights up when pedal is active and allows you to switch between footswitch functions.

More Controls

There are a few hidden controls, so I will go over them below, I have put the knob they are hidden in in brackets.

    • Rhythm: This changes between different subdivision. (Time Knob)
    • RampATK: Allows you to adjust the Ramp attack time. (Repeat Knob)
    • RampRLS: Allows you to adjust the Ramp release time. (Mix Knob)

On the left-hand side of the pedal, you have the two inputs on the side with the foot switch control below them. Then, on the right-hand side of the pedal, you have the two stereo outputs. The 9v power is on the top of the pedal. The pedal has analog dry through and can either be True or buffered bypass. This option can be changed using the power-up modes. You can also alter the output settings, ramp setting, and even the LED brightness using the power-up modes.

The Klowra Everlast delay features an LED button and a multi-use foot switch. Using these two, you can control how you want to control the pedal. Do you want the foot switch to operate the tap tempo, and do you want it to ramp between two different settings? The LED buttons swap between the features and change colour to let you know which feature is selected.

The Sounds

For the demo songs, you will hear the Klowra Everlast going straight into the front of my Neural Nano Cortex with a Tube Screamer (Review Here) and the Mythos Golden Fleece (Review Here) in the other demo song. Each one was set to a different delay type (Digital and Crystal). I thought it sounded wild! The delay and Golden Fleece together were a match made in heaven!

For the sound samples, I just ran the Klowra Everlast into the front end of my Neural Nano Cortex and ran through each sound, adjusted the controls, and had a play around. I didn’t dive too much into the sub controls as this would have made the video extra long. Just wanted to show you all the basic sounds as that is what you will want to hear to decide if you like the pedal at all. One major mistake I made while filming this is that for some reason I didn’t show you the Digital setting; however, it is used heavily on the demo songs above. I also didn’t hook the pedal up in stereo for the sound samples. The main reason for this is that isn’t how I run my rig!

What are my thoughts?

The Design

I have to say, the packaging is incredible! You get a few stickers, a cool playing card, and a physical instruction manual! The manual goes into a fair amount of detail for its size, covering all the controls and features and how to use and operate the pedal; however, if you want a more in-depth manual on how to use the pedal, you can scan a QR code and get a full manual! I like this system! Best of both worlds!

The pedal itself is just stunning! Such a nice-looking pedal! The colours and use of space with the layout and graphics are just so well done! I know that the look of a pedal doesn’t really matter, but this is inspiring to look at! They have made it look a lot more expensive than it actually is! I would argue it is better looking than a pedal double its price!

I thought the fact they opted for a single foot switch was going to make operating this pedal a bit complicated (I love tap tempo); however, thanks to the LED, you can easily see what you are changing or what mode you are on! Super easy, and you soon get used to it. Also, the help of the external foot switch is a lovely feature if you want to use it.

"I didn’t look at it as a cheap fun toy. I was actually thinking of ways I could use it on my board!"

The Sounds

Hopefully, you heard the sounds above! They are glorious! Dam, this pedal is inspiring! Without even diving into the sub controls, you can get some amazing and complex sounds from this pedal! However, it is always easy and simple to operate! Of course, the Tape, Digital, and Analog are all sounds we know and love, but sounds like Crystal and Swell are just dream-like to play! In fact, during rehearsals, I found myself swapping to one of the more wild delay types! Really adds another layer to your playing and gives the ear something to latch onto!

The texture knob is such a great addition; it really allows you to add some “texture” to your sounds! If you are playing slow and melodic lines, then having a bit of texture behind you helps you keep things interesting! I found myself playing much simpler stuff when I had the texture knob turned up as I wanted to be able to hear the repeats!

So many controls on this delay, However, it still remains easy and simple to up!

More on the Sounds

The tone knob is super helpful! If you find that your repeats are too loud, it might not be the mix knob you want to turn first; you can alter the tone knob and get the mix to sit better! Taking off some of the high end can make it sit lovely under your main tone. However, switch it to digital and bump the tone knob up, and you will get a very “U2” kind of sound.

A full metal enclosure makes this pedal rock solid!

The Drawbacks

There isn’t really a lot I don’t like about this pedal! If I had to be really picky, then I guess I would say that the font can be kind of hard to read at a distance! In the right lighting, the knobs cast a shadow over the text and make it a bit tricky to see!

There aren’t any preset options! There is a Ramp feature which allows you to “fade” between two delay settings, so you can get a false preset from this. However, I would have liked a way to swap between a few presets! On a pedal like this where you create amazing delay tones, you want a way to store them!

It is digital! If you are after a fully analogue delay, then this might not be the one for you! Although it does have an analogue option, it isn’t analogue! On the flip side to this, it is true bypass! I guess you could also argue that there is a lot in this pedal! If you want a simple delay that you can just set up a simple repeat, although the Klowra Everlast can do this, it may be underusing the pedal!

"The best thing is, it isn’t even hard to do! Just fiddle with the sliders till you get something you like!"

Final Thoughts

In the introduction, I compared it to a Strymon pedal; some of you might have laughed at this comment! Just take a second to think about the features this pedal contains! Tap tempo, stereo in and out, nine delay types, and a host of hidden controls. Pair that with its size and sounds, and you have a high-quality, outstanding-sounding pedal that can compete with any other digital delay pedal out there!

I know a lot of big digital delay pedals intimidate some people with all their functions and parameters. However, thanks to the way Klowra have done the split manuals, I think anyone can master this pedal! If you sit with it for an hour or two, you will be able to figure the whole pedal out and become very comfortable using it!

When you look at this pedal and then look at the price, it is crazy good value! The price varies online; however, it is around the £120. Which, for a pedal with this much functionality, is a great price, I think!

Conclusion

Thank you for checking out my review of the Klowra Everlast delay pedal! It was so much fun to try this pedal, and I have loved using all the sounds! There is so much more to delay than just your tape and analogue! Give it a go! This is a super affordable way to get into the multi-delay kind of pedals! When you think about all the features, it is jam-packed and great value! If you are looking at one of the Big Strymon pedals then I would 100% recommend you check out this pedal first!

Klowra did reach out and send me this pedal, but they haven’t been involved in the article. I didn’t get paid and also received no commission for any sales! They just wanted me to check it out and give my honest opinion!
